Business Services in SL1

Business services are activities that support a company’s objectives but do not produce a physical good. These may include support, administrative and marketing services as well as logistics and procurement.

These activities can be outsourced to companies specialized in those areas, allowing the business to focus on core competencies. Companies offering business services can also provide consultancy, outsourcing and a wide range of specialized software solutions to support businesses in saving time and money, improving productivity and efficiency, and staying competitive in the marketplace.

Examples of business services are financial services such as banking and investment, procurement and shipping services to ensure that the company has material supplies needed for operations, and marketing services to promote products and brand the company. The demand for careers in these fields is constantly increasing and offers many opportunities.

In SL1, you can select one or more services to always display at the top of the Business Services page by default, and sort them by favorite status. To do so, click the star icon () for a service in the Business Services page. To remove a service from the list of favorites, click the star again or select the action button () for the service and then choose Delete Service from Favorites.

Effectively managing business services requires visibility into assets across hybrid infrastructure. This can be complex for large organizations with multiple IT departments and siloed approaches. This challenge can be addressed by using business service management (BSM) to establish visibility into the interdependencies of IT and business services.
