What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a form of recreation, relaxation and distraction from the stressors of daily life. It can range from a clown at a child’s birthday party to a stadium rock concert. It also helps children learn how to cooperate and bond with others (through group games or play with dolls) and develop motor skills for music or sports. It can also help them to express emotions in healthy ways (like writing poems or playing with art supplies) and enhance their communication skills. The word entertain is derived from the Latin inter tenere, which means to hold inside. It is related to the Indo-European root ten, meaning to stretch or extend.
