Automobiles and Their Components

Automobiles

Having your own automobile gives you the freedom to travel across long distances. This opens up more work possibilities and allows you to live nearer to people who are important in your life. The automobile has changed the lives of many people around the world. It has allowed people to move from the urban areas to the countryside, and it has enabled them to visit the places in between.

Automobiles have many different components, and their design is based on the purpose of the vehicle. The chassis and body, analogous to the skeletal structure in the human body, support the various systems and components of the automobile. For example, a suspension system supports the wheels and absorbs the shocks from bumps in the road surface. This keeps the wheel in contact with the road and improves the ride quality.

Other major parts of an automobile are the engine, transmission system, and axles. The engine is the powerhouse of the automobile, and it delivers the torque that turns the wheels. The transmission system is used to adjust the speed and torque. It works like a fluid coupling and uses acceleration and deceleration of working fluid to transmit the power from the engine to the wheels. The axles are in two halves and have the road wheels connected to them.

An automobile also has auxiliary systems such as indicators, air-conditioning, and so on. These are not essential, but they can enhance the comfort of passengers.
